Rao accused the Congress government of being politically vindictive.
The Enforcement Directorate will probe into the alleged irregularities committed in the Sheep Rearing Development Scheme, which was launched during the tenure of previous BRS government under K Chandrasekhar Rao.
Former Congress President Sonia Gandhi will also not travel to Telangana to participate in the function due to health reasons.
Rao’s assertion was dismissed by Telangana Chief Minister and PCC president A Revanth Reddy said that the former CM was speaking like KA Paul, the maverick Christian evangelist and leader of Praja Shanti Party.
Speaking to reporters hours after PM Modi’s claim, KTR said that Modi lowered the stature of Prime Minister’s position by speaking “outright lies”.
Modi had claimed that “the chief minister popularly known as KCR had proposed that BRS will be part of the NDA, but the proposal was turned down by Modi”.
Modi also accused the Congress of “taking a contract” from the BRS to split the opposition vote in the state “in return for its help” during the Karnataka assembly election.
Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan, urged the chief minister, K Chandrasekhar Rao, to refrain from recommending politically aligned persons under the governor’s quota since it defeats the very objective of having nominated posts.
