At a media briefing here, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar charged the Pakistani establishment with making contradictory statements on whether the pilgrims would require to carry their passports for visiting the Darbar Saheb Gurdwara at Kartarpur and whether they would have to pay a service fee of $20.
The visas to these pilgrims have been granted over and above thousands of visas issued every year under the framework of India-Pakistan Protocol on Visits to Religious Shrines of 1974, the high commission said.
The meeting between Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan Ajay Bisaria and Prime Minister Narendra Modi came days before the two countries hold technical-level talks over the Kartarpur Saheb Corridor on 14 July.
Pakistan will build the corridor from the Indian border to the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur while the other part from Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur district up to the border will be constructed by India.
The release said India has also proposed that a technical level discussion on the alignment of the corridor be also held on the same day on the sidelines of this meeting.
