A senior police official said the arrested accused was identified as Ashif Khan, a resident of village Chhaprauli of Noida sector 168.
The attackers had made an indirect reference to Nupur Sharma, who was suspended from the BJP for a remark on Prophet Mohammad.
On Tuesday, the family members of Kanhaiya Lal claimed that the deceased had filed a complaint with the police on June 15 alleging that he was being threatened by anti-social elements.
