The Supreme Court on Monday agreed to examine on April 14, a plea for alternative arrangement for 'wuzu' for worshippers at Gyanvapi mosque, Varanasi. The plea said that due to Ramazan, the number of worshippers have increased.
Justice Kant cautioned the husband not to renege on the promise to treat his wife with respect and asked him to withdraw all cases against his wife, including the divorce petition.
The number of judges in the Supreme Court now stands at 31, which is the the full sanctioned strength of the apex court
He was appointed as the Chief Justice of the HP High Court on Wednesday. His name was cleared for elevation by the Supreme Court in January this year.
Born on 10 February 1962 in a middle class family of Hisar district, Kant earned his Bachelor's degree in Law in 1984 from Maharishi Dayanand University.
