The Reds, who were just denied the title last season, suffered in the early going this year as draws against Fulham and Crystal Palace were exacerbated by Monday's humiliating loss at rivals Manchester United, according to DPA.
The forward, who was named the FWA Footballer of the Year and the PFA Players' Player of the Year for 2021-22 after helping Juergen Klopp's side to a domestic cup double, has now committed his future to the Reds.
The 36-year-old's previous deal was due to expire at the end of this month and the midfielder had external offers from one Premier League club and two from overseas but he chose to remain with Liverpool.
But Klopp is waiting to find out the extent of injuries to top-scorer Salah and defensive talisman Van Dijk, who were both forced off at Wembley on Saturday.
Unai Emery's men have a difficult task over overturning a 2-0 first leg deficit against Liverpool, who are arguably the favorites to win the competition.
It would take a near-miraculous recovery to deny Liverpool, 2-0 winners in the first leg, a third final in five seasons, but the Jurgen Klopp-led side is plagued by injuries, including forwards Roberto Firmino and Divock Origi.
The Reds have also confirmed that assistant managers Pep Ljinders and Peter Krawietz have also signed new contracts with the Merseyside club, in a further boost to Klopp's new contract.
Unai Emery's team has already caused two upsets in the competition this season, knocking out Juventus in the last-16 and beating Bayern Munich in the quarterfinals.
With the AFCON now complete Mane and Salah will make their way back to Liverpool but Klopp has warned the pair, plus Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota, that competition for places is now red hot.
