The Reds, who were just denied the title last season, suffered in the early going this year as draws against Fulham and Crystal Palace were exacerbated by Monday's humiliating loss at rivals Manchester United, according to DPA.
The forward, who was named the FWA Footballer of the Year and the PFA Players' Player of the Year for 2021-22 after helping Juergen Klopp's side to a domestic cup double, has now committed his future to the Reds.
The 36-year-old's previous deal was due to expire at the end of this month and the midfielder had external offers from one Premier League club and two from overseas but he chose to remain with Liverpool.
But Klopp is waiting to find out the extent of injuries to top-scorer Salah and defensive talisman Van Dijk, who were both forced off at Wembley on Saturday.
