Gregory spent two and a half seasons at Chennaiyin FC after joining the club in 2017. The Englishman lauded the growth of the sport in the country ever since his introduction to Indian football.
Chennaiyin will be missing the services of midfielder Germanpreet Singh on Thursday due to a suspension.
"It is about time I sit down with the owner and had a talk. She has been supportive throughout but we can't continue like this," Gregory had said after the loss to Bengaluru FC.
Whether this will signal the end of Gregory's time in India is in the hands of the owners, but the first English coach to win the ISL was the first to put his hand up and accept responsibility.
The defending champions Bengaluru have not been in their best form in the season so far while their rival team Chennaiyin FC are also facing similar kind of problems in the ongoing season.
It is to note that the 33-year-old forward will become the first player from Malta to play for CFC as well as in the ISL.
