The Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Union (JNUSU) on Wednesday staged a protest at Jantar Mantar here against the cancellation of UGC-NET examination and NEET- UG paper leak.
However, later the poster was removed, and through spray paint, the name of VD Savarkar was replaced with BR Ambedkar.
The prosecution sanction was granted nearly a year after a city court asked the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government to take a decision within a reasonable time-frame.
In a statement, the party said it was confident that Kanhaiya Kumar would come out unscathed “as the charges are false and politically motivated”.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday said he will ask the concerned department for early decision in connection with the issue.
Former JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar was also present at the venue along with the current president Aishe Ghosh, who was severely injured during the attack.
The alleged revelation by the Hindu Raksha Dal chief comes at a time when the Delhi Police has said that it has identified a few of the miscreants who targeted students and teachers in the campus.
Ghosh, who herself was severely injured in the January 5 violence, has been booked for attacking security guards and vandalizing server room on January 4.
The attack on students and teachers at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) came as a new challenge to the government that has been battling to put the lid on weeks of protests against a citizenship law.
About 34 JNU students and teachers, including JNU Students Union (JNUSU) president Aishe Ghosh, were severely injured in this attack.
