Ever since the mayhem on the first Sunday of the New Year, VC M Jagadeesh Kumar has had a lot to answer for.
On January 5, at least two dozen students suffered injuries after violence erupted inside the varsity campus when several masked individuals, both male and female, thrashed students, including girls, and teachers with wooden and metal rods.
In a separate interaction with media, JNU VC, M Jagadesh Kumar said that the normalcy has returned to the campus and urged the students to come back and start the registration for the upcoming semester.
Earlier, Chidambaram on Monday demanded the identification and arrest of perpetrators of violence at JNU within 24 hours and be brought to justice.
The VC also said that the university had always encouraged dialogue and discussion and would continue to do it.
The VC's comments came in the backdrop of the JNU Students' Union's appeal to the JNU community to boycott the convocation, accusing Kumar of "muzzling their democratic rights".
