In another development, the Congress leader Ahmed Patel met party interim President Sonia Gandhi over the death of infants where the duo also discussed the issue of portfolio distribution in Maharashtra.
Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot took consolation in the fact that the number of child casualties in the Kota hospital came down to 963 in 2019 from 1260 in 2015 and 1193 in 2016 when the BJP was ruling the state.
The NHRC has further directed the government to ensure that such deaths of children do not recur in the future due to the lack of infrastructure and health facilities in hospitals.
This comes as 963 deaths have been reported at the government-run JK Lon Hospital in Kota with over 100 infant deaths being reported in the month of December alone.
On December 29, Lok Sabha speaker and Member of Parliament from Kota, Om Birla, visited the hospital to meet the parents of the kids who died in the hospital.
