Demand for Bharat Ratna for Nitish Kumar hints at leadership change in Bihar
After the flag-hoisting ceremony on the Republic Day, Manjhi said Nitish has been working hard for Bihar’s development despite several obstacles.

Union Minister and Hindustani Awam Morcha supremo Jitan Ram Manjhi has said that NDA ally and Janata Dal-United Chief Nitish Kumar made him the Chief Minister of Bihar in 2014 which was a "huge honour" for him.
Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Jitan Ram Manjhi has had an extensive political career, including serving as the 23rd chief minister of Bihar from 20 May 2014 to 22 February 2015.
Former CM Jitan Ram Manjhi on Tuesday claimed that a big scam similar to the IRCTC land-for-job scam has taken place here in the state.
The Bihar chief minister said, “Woh (ex-CM Jiten Manjhi) BJP waalon se milte rahte the. Theek hua hamse alag ho gaye.” (He (Manjhi) was constantly in touch with BJP leaders. It’s good that he left).
Reports said the five RJD’s Members of Legislative Council (MLCs), Upper House of the Bihar legislature, walked to the chamber of acting Council chairman today and submitted their resignations.
While the RJD has declared it will go to polls under the leadership of Tejashwi Yadav, his other two allies, Jitan Ram Manjhi and Upendra Kushwaha too nurse high political ambitions and have rejected the candidature of the former, thus making the battle interesting well ahead of the polls.
Meanwhile, the part of ruling alliance Lok Jan Shakti Party (LJP) chief Chirag Paswan too held a meeting with the state working committee members via video conferencing in the run-up to the elections, to look into the preparations of the party.
With Opposition leaders Tejashwi Yadav and Jitin Ram Manjhi vying for the post of Chief Minister in the upcoming Assembly poll, the alliance seems to be facing a disagreement.
A disastrous or poor performance in the elections will, thus, obviously ruin their career and deny them the bargaining capacity in the Bihar Assembly elections scheduled next year.
