Patna fights dengue, Japanese encephalitis as Covid-19 declines

"Due to the change of weather, mosquitoes are breeding in large numbers. People need to take precaution in the next two months. The cases of dengue, chikungunya and Japanese encephalitis may increase during arrival of winter session," said Dr Pramod Jha, Civil surgeon of Patna.

According to medical experts, from previous studies, fruit bearing litchi trees attract bats which feed on the fruit; bats carrying the encephalitis virus contaminate the fruit with saliva, which carry the virus.
