Once a deadly threat to the children in Purvanchal, Japanese Encephalitis (JE) is now on the verge of complete eradication from Uttar Pradesh, thanks to the decisive steps taken by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath after assuming office in 2017.
"Due to the change of weather, mosquitoes are breeding in large numbers. People need to take precaution in the next two months. The cases of dengue, chikungunya and Japanese encephalitis may increase during arrival of winter session," said Dr Pramod Jha, Civil surgeon of Patna.
Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Thursday reviewed the prevailing flood situation and asked Deputy Commissioners and other officials to remain fully alert for tackling the situation.
The Minister has also instructed the state's Principal Secretary, Department of Health and Family Welfare, to hold a weekly review conference to ensure the vigil continues.
According to medical experts, from previous studies, fruit bearing litchi trees attract bats which feed on the fruit; bats carrying the encephalitis virus contaminate the fruit with saliva, which carry the virus.
