The move is being seen as an olive branch to the alienated Kashmiri leaders most of whom were put under detention for more than a year after J&K’s special status was scrapped and the state split into two union territories on 5 August 2019.
Former chief minister, Mehbooba Mufti has confirmed that she has received a formal invitation from New Delhi for the meeting scheduled on June 24.
Such a move is first since the abrogation of Article 370 from the region and bifurcation of the state into two Union Territories in August 2019. Regional parties in Jammu and Kashmir may also agree to participate in the Delimitation Commission proceedings.
