In a post on X, Kashmir Zone Police said, "Two terrorists have been neutralised in the Sopore encounter. Identification and affiliation is being ascertained. Incriminating materials, arms and ammunition recovered. Further details shall follow."
Five nominated members of the legislative assembly (MLAs) will play a key role in the government formation in Jammu and Kashmir in case a hung assembly emerges after counting of votes on 8 October.
The assembly elections in J&K held after a gap of ten years witnessed polling in three phases. The first phase recorded 57.31% polling, while 61.38% of votes were cast in the second phase.
The Indian Army launched a search operation in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi on Monday morning following the attack on a bus coming from Shiv Khori, in which ten pilgrims were killed on Sunday evening.
According to Army, the incident occurred with the vehicle carrying one Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) and two Other Ranks (OR) officers.
The meeting comes in the wake of the recent terror attacks in the Kashmir valley with the Rajouri terror incident is the latest in which 7 civilians were killed in two separate firing incidents.
The meetings, to be held in the North Block office of the Ministry of Home Affairs, will be attended by the Lieutenant Governors of both the Union Territories of Ladakh and J-K.
The meeting was in connection with the upcoming Bharat Jodo Yatra in the third week of January. The meeting lasted for over half an hour.
The moves come a day after the central counter-terror agency carried out searches at 14 locations in Jammu and Kashmir.
