Availability of essential commodities including food items and petroleum products has been hit by continued closure of the strategic Jammu-Srinagar highway.
According to police sources, the avalanche hit a police post near the Jawahar Tunnel on Thursday evening.
The strategic Jammu-Srinagar highway remained closed for a second consecutive day due to the fresh snowfall in Bannihal sector and landslides in Ramsoo-Ramban.
The overall snowfall might have been higher during any year but this time the snow has come early causing damage to apple trees and shutting of roads.
