"After having recognised the increased (Covid) vaccination coverage across the globe and in consultation with the stakeholders, the Government of India has decided to resume scheduled commercial international passenger services to/from India from 27.03.2022, i.e. start of the summer schedule 2022," the Civil Aviation Ministry said.
The airport located in the provincial capital was not allowed to operate civilian flights when it had served as a military base, reports TOLO News.
The Kabul airport was damaged with its many facilities destroyed during the withdrawal of US-led forces and American nationals on Aug. 31.
Scheduled international passenger services have been suspended in India since March 23, 2020, due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Inbound air traffic will operate at 20 per cent of the total current quantum, while there is no change in the existing Category C list countries.
The suspension does not apply to international aircraft currently in the kingdom, which will be allowed to leave, SPA said.
The restrictions, however, will not apply on international all-cargo operations and flights specifically approved by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), an official circular said.
The suspension of flights does not hamper the movement of the international all-cargo flights which are specially approved by the DGCA.
Aviation minister Hardeep Singh Puri had in May said that if the virus gets under control, the international flights could resume as early as mid June.
