Confrontation took place on the Insurance Amendment Bill, 2021 and the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2021. Like the rest of the Session, there were repeated adjournments and walkouts.
The Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment), Bill, 2021 seeks to amend the 1991 Act on the subject and provides that the opinion of the Lt Governor has to be taken on issues specified by him in a general or specific order.
The Bill will raise the foreign investment limit in the insurance sector to 74 per cent. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said while control may go to foreign companies, the majority of directors and key management persons will be resident Indians who will be covered by the law of the land
