Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on his first visit to Odisha after the formation of the BJP's maiden government in the coastal State, laid the foundation stone and dedicated multiple railway projects with a combined investment of Rs 2,871 crore.
The first project from the Ministry of Railways pertains to the construction of the 4th broad gauge railway line spanning 160 km from Manmad to Jalgaon in Maharashtra's Nashik and Jalgaon districts.
It was noted that it also helps in route and alignment optimization and effective last/first mile connectivity planning to major social as well as economic zones in the project areas.
The Prime Minister credited his government with bringing about positive changes to meet the aspirations of the people at a public meeting in Bengaluru after launching a series of infrastructure projects.
"We discussed issues related to road and infrastructure projects, including transport, road connectivity and manufacturing units of electric buses. We have also discussed building some flyovers in Kolkata."
The data showed that as of July 1, out of 1,683 central sector infrastructure projects costing Rs 150 crore and above, 412 projects reported cost overruns while 471 have been delayed.
