The introduction of private players in the railway services is a move aimed at luring investors by the Modi government.
Scrutiny of the applications had been completed but the process of further examination had got delayed due to covid related restrictions, the government said.
'Additional booking counters will be opened at important railway stations for the convenience of them,' railways said.
