The Indian men's hockey team made history on Thursday with a hard-fought come-from-behind win against Spain for the bronze medal in the Paris Olympics.
Captain Harmanpreet Singh (12’) gave a lead to the visitors but Jeremy Hayward (19’, 47’) and Jack Welch (54’) scored goals to help hosts secure victory.
The Netherlands (the top-ranked nation), Germany (4), Great Britain (5), Spain (8), the host nation, France (9), and South Africa (14) will make up pool A.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also expressed happiness over this achievement of the Indian hockey team and congratulated each member of the team.
"We'll play with confidence, and our goal is to leave China with no regrets at the end of the tournament," Abhishek said of his selection.
The Harare born Fulton started as player-cum-coach of Chelmsford Club in England and thereafter coached club teams in South Africa .
India dominated the match and had 51 percent of possession while Wales had 48 percent. India made 28 attacking circle penetration.
Graham Reid's team gave up possession to the home team, who were also more aggressive, making 36 attacking circle penetrations to the Indians' 21.
The team, led by Manpreet Singh, is placed in Pool B along with England, Canada, Wales, and Ghana and will start their campaign against Ghana on July 31.
