Imran Khan

Pakistan Unrest

Pakistan’s ongoing political unrest has entered a new phase, with violent clashes between police and supporters of former Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Dealing with Imran keeps Pakistan busy

Pakistan’s information minister, Atta Tarar, recently announced that the government planned to permanently ban Imran Khan’s political party, PTI, claiming it was “a direct threat to the fabric of our nation.”

Facing heat

The Director of Inter Services Public Relations, at a press conference this week, claimed that the institution was apolitical and could not be pressurized by social media, in itself an acknowledgment of the assault it has faced.

The emergence of the Imran cult

Imran, as most cult leaders had done, created a state within a state at his residence in Zaman Park, Lahore, convincing his supporters that the government is out to eliminate him and hence they should resist attempts to arrest him, including employing violence.
