Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, who also holds the portfolio of Transport Department, has sought support of the people of the state, especially the opposition to smoothly run Himachal Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) the lifeline of the state.
HRTC Managing Director Rohan Chand Thakur said the gesture, aimed at celebrating the bond between brothers and sisters, resulted in a total subsidy amount foregone by HRTC of Rs 78.64 lakhs for the day.
He congratulated the HRTC and acknowledged its unparalleled contribution to the development of Himachal Pradesh.
Agnihotri, who also holds the portfolio of Transport Department, said that the process of appointing 357 conductors has also been completed and soon they will be providing their services.
Four people, including the driver and the conductor of a Himachal Pradesh Road and Transport Corporation (HRTC) died after the bus met with an accident in Shimla district on Friday.
While inaugurating various services of the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) at the Old Bus Stand, Agnihotri, who holds the transport portfolio, said that this facility has been started by the HRTC in collaboration with the Tourism and Civil Aviation Department. The fare for this shuttle bus service has been fixed Rs 200 per passenger.
Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that these buses will be replaced by old diesel buses in a phased manner.
The capital city of Himachal Pradesh, Shimla now has 20 more electronic buses. With this, the total number of e-buses operational in the city has gone up to 70.
