IIT Mumbai and IIT Delhi clinched the second and third place respectively. The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bangalore stood at the fourth place, while IIT Kharagpur was at fifth in the prestigious institutes of national importance and central universities category.
The last committee which was headed by Dr K Kasturirangan submitted the Draft National Education Policy, 2019 to the HRD Ministry on 31 May, 2019.

For Elementary Classes (I-VIII) schools shall follow the Alternative Academic Calendar and Learning Outcomes specified by NCERT, the HRD Ministry informed.
Meanwhile, in the wake of rising Coronavirus cases in the country, the Centre is planning to reconsider its decision to open schools in next two months.
The pending CBSE Board examinations for Class 10 and 12 are scheduled to be held between July 1-15.
The HRD ministry has already announced that students will appear for exams at schools in which they are enrolled rather than external examination centres. As per the MHA order, no examination centre is permitted in containment zones.
This move comes after Allahabad was renamed as Prayagraj by the Yogi Adityanath government in October 2018.
On April 29, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) had said that its decision to take board exams for 29 subjects of Class 10 and 12 stands the same as mentioned in circular dated April 1, 2020.
