In a communiqué, the Health Ministry said, “The first meeting of the NTF set up in accordance with directions of the Supreme Court was held today under the chairmanship of the Cabinet Secretary. All members including the Home Secretary and Health Secretary were present at the meeting.”
The panel which will be headed by Cabinet Secretary, Government of India as its Chairperson has been constituted following the Supreme Court's direction on 20th August.
The Health Ministry said the primary objectives of the project include developing standard protocols for micro/nano-plastic analysis, conducting intra- and inter-laboratory comparisons, and generating critical data on microplastic exposure levels among consumers.
