SAD leader and Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal on Monday appealed to the Union government to accept the demands of the farmers, including making MSP a legal guarantee, to save the life of Kisan leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal whose fast unto death has entered the 21st day.
"Though the laws were repealed after 650 farmers were martyred in the Kisan Andolan, now the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government is set to implement the centre’s agenda by unilaterally recommending phasing out of paddy cultivation in Punjab,” she added.
The Akali leader said the flood tragedy in Punjab is “Bhagwant made, and not Bhagwan made.”
“Our ex-servicemen are our pride. The sacrifices made by them for our motherland are beyond comparison. It is our duty as a society to take care of them in the twilight of their lives,” the Bhatinda MP said.
In 2021, the Dera chief, along with four others, was also convicted for hatching a conspiracy to kill Ranjit Singh, a Dera manager. The Dera chief and three others were convicted in 2019 for the murder of a journalist over 16 years ago.
In a letter to the Union Agriculture minister, Badal said that her party rejects the MSP Committee in its current form as it is not acceptable to the farming community.
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader said the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MPs of Punjab are holding repeated protests in Parliament to highlight the delay in giving permission to their boss to visit Singapore while leaving all issues pertaining to the state.
“How can we expect Bhagwant Mann to safeguard the interests of the State in future also when he is surviving on the mercy of Kejriwal?” she asked.
Badal also urged the PM to take the diplomatic initiative for the creation of a “Permanent Peace Corridor” to link all multi-faith sacred shrines left in Pakistan with the Indo Pak border.
