"I had also asked the Congress for the role of a soldier in the party, but that did not happen. It may have been the first time that someone resigned to become a soldier," he added.
Patel, who quit Congress, last month joined the BJP in the presence of party state chief CR Patil at the party head office here.
Hardik catapulted to the political centre stage in 2015 when he spearheaded the Patidar reservation agitation in Gujarat, building the campaign in the run up the 2017 state Assembly elections
Since the day Hardik resigned from Congress, he has been attacking the party, saying the party is anti-Patidar and anti- Gujarat.
The Patidar leader, who joined the Congress in 2019 was elevated as one of the Gujarat Congress working presidents in 2020.
"If Hardik Patel does not like being in Congress, he should join a like-minded party like AAP. Instead of complaining to Congress, and wasting his time, he should contribute here. A party like Congress would not have a place for dedicated people like him,”
A bench comprising Justices S. Abdul Nazeer and Vikram Nath said: "The conviction is, hereby, stayed until the appeals are decided accordingly."
The Congress leader and Patidar movement leader, Patel had moved the plea before the Supreme Court against the judgment of Gujarat High Court seeking suspension of the conviction so that he could contest the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
A bench headed by Justice UU Lalit issued a notice to the Gujarat Government and asked Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representative of the state police, to explain the steps it had taken.
Though the whereabouts of Hardik Patel are yet to be traced, he had last congratulated Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on his victory in the assembly elections, through a message from his verified handle on Twitter on February 11.
