In a solemn wreath-laying ceremony, GOC of the White Knight Corps Lt General Navin Sachdeva laid a wreath to pay homage to the Bravehearts Naib Subedar Vipan Kumar and Rifleman Arvind Singh who made the supreme sacrifice in the highest traditions of the Indian Army.
Four Army soldiers were injured on Friday evening in a gunfight with terrorists in the forest area in Kishtwar district of Jammu. Two to three terrorists are believed trapped in the cordon by security forces.
The injured soldiers were evacuated to the military hospital but two of the critically injured succumbed to their wounds, reports said.
Security forces are said to have established contact with the hiding terrorists in the upper reaches and trapped them in the forested area.
Mobile Internet services have been suspended in Sopore and adjoining areas, and restrictions imposed in the town to maintain law and order.
Three terrorists were killed in Mujgund on the outskirts of Srinagar following an intense 18-hour-long gun battle that ended on Sunday morning.
All schools and colleges in the area have been closed as a precautionary measure.
