Sales may surge in the second half if a proposal to cut GST rate on under-construction flats from the current 12 per cent gets approved and liquidity situation improves among NBFCs.
The country should eventually have a GST which would have only slabs of zero, five per cent and standard rate with luxury and sin goods as an exception.
Producer Ritesh Sidhwani also thanked Modi for "your immediate action of reduction in GST on cinema tickets".
PM Modi on Tuesday had pledged a further rationalisation of the GST to ensure that items of regular use won’t face the top 28 per cent rate.
Gandhi's remarks came 2 days after PM Modi said that the government was aiming to bring 99 per cent of items at or below 18 per cent GST slab.
