The Supreme Court on Thursday permitted the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) to relax stage IV of the Graded Response Action Plan (GTAP) restrictions in Delhi-NCR to GRAP stage II in view of the downward trend and betterment in the Air Quality Index (AQI).
The apex court asked the CAQM to take a call on lifting online schooling.
He emphasized the alarming rise in pollution levels, which have been exacerbated by stubble burning and other factors, with several areas recording very high AQI readings surpassing 400.
A bench of Justice Abhay S Oka and Justice Augustine George Masih also directed Delhi-NCR states to immediately constitute teams for monitoring steps/actions which are required under GRAP-IV.
