Interacting on the occasion of the 27th edition of the Wharton India Economic Forum via VC, the Union Minister for Commerce and Industry said a lot of structural changes that have taken place in the last eight years have had a significant impact on the way the Indian economy is poised to take off.
The initiative would connect start-ups in India to US-based investors and start-up ecosystem leaders with mentorship and assistance in various areas including funding, market access and commercialization.
During the review, it was noted that more than 95% of all the physical order deliveries since Apr’22 happened on time, in cases where online fulfillment and payment were done via GeM.
Goyal asserted that the CEPA is a balanced, fair, comprehensive and equitable partnership agreement, which will give enhanced market access to India in both goods and services. “It will create jobs for our youth, open new markets for our startups, make our businesses more competitive and boost our economy” he added.
Goyal spoke on the need for institutionalising the Startup Week Celebrations as an annual event so that the startup ecosystem was regularly reviewed, reinvented, rejuvenated and reenergised.
He was speaking as India’s G20 Sherpa at the first Sherpa meeting convened by Indonesia, the current G20 President, in virtual mode.
The last gathering was held digitally under the Saudi presidency in Riyadh in November 2020.
Goyal said the government wants to promote Brand India and Indian textiles, which have earlier played an important role in building Brand India, will again play a key role.
