Initially, the NHAI has identified around 100 toll plazas for live monitoring on the web-based software. These toll plazas have been selected based on congestion feedback received through 1033 National Highway helpline. The monitoring service will be extended to more toll plazas in a phased manner.
Irrigation and waterways department, agriculture department and forest departments are using GIS to improve its performance.
As per the ministry, the module of the GIS-based water supply system for Cantonment Boards has been developed by the Bhaskaracharya Institute for Space Applications and Geoinformatics (BISAG) under the guidance of Defence Secretary and Director General of Defence Estates, Delhi.
The minister said the report is an extension of the India Industrial Land Bank, which features more than 4,400 industrial parks in a GIS-enabled database
