German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has spoken in favour of Russia's participation in a new summit to resolve the crisis with Ukraine, the Russian media reported on Sunday.
Schloz was received by Union Minister of State for MSME, Bhanu Pratap Singh Verma at the airport.

Scholz will be accorded a ceremonial welcome at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhawan at 10 am. He will also hold a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the two leaders will discuss bilateral, regional and global issues.
This is the first standalone visit of a German chancellor to India since the biennial Intergovernmental Consultation (IGC) mechanism commenced in 2011, which is a whole-of-government framework.

In the immediate aftermath of the Russian invasion, Mr Scholz had announced a Zeitenwende (dawn of a new era) in Germany’s defence policy. This envisaged shipments of anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles to Ukraine.
Merkel said that Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko "has not sought to speak" to any EU leaders.
Both the leaders have discussed regional developments and evaluated steps to enhance bilateral relations, the statement further said.
