Under a 100-trillion-rupee (S$1.6 trillion) mega project called PM Gati Shakti - Hindi for strength of speed - Modi's administration is creating a digital platform that combines 16 ministries.
Industry body FICCI while welcoming the National Logistics Policy launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that it has the potential to significantly reduce costs and improve industry competitiveness in consonance with the Gati Shakti programme.
The programme, launched in October 2021 for providing multimodal connectivity infrastructure to various economic zones, would be a game-changer, he said addressing an Investors Round Table Conference, organized by the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme at Kochi.
The Directorate of Gati Shakti will primarily look after the work of DPR, feasibility report, appraisal, implementation etc. of infrastructure projects across the country.
The PM GatiShakti was launched last week to speed up infrastructure projects. It was intended to break Departmental Silos and bring in more holistic and integrated planning and execution of projects.
The meeting was attended by Bhupinder Singh Poonia MD, IPICOL and ED, IDCO in presence of P L Haranadh, Chairman Paradeep Port Trust and senior officials from the Ministry of Road Transport and NHAI.
