"We have to maintain Covid protocol while celebrating the Ganesh festival. The cases are increasing in our neighbouring states like Kerala and Maharashtra," said Goa CM Pramod Sawant.
However, the High Court also directed the state government to permit the installation of Ganesh pandals on private premises.
"Before shaking hands, ask him if he has taken a vaccine or not. That is the need. It is important to ensure that you are secure even before shaking hands with someone. If we ask such a question, we will be able to create awareness among everyone," Pramod Sawant said.
Presently, the government has banned mass celebrations of Muharram and Ganesh Chathurthi festivals in the state in the backdrop of fears of Covid-19 the spread.
"This time strict implementation will be done and PoP idols will be banned for sale or even people who buy such idols will have a tough time, including paying fines or imprisonment if required," said the Minister.
