Benchmark indices closed with little change on Thursday in yet another volatile session, with the Nifty at 23,750 led by auto, pharma, energy stocks. At close, the Sensex was down 0.39 points at 78,472.48, and the Nifty was up 22.55 points or at 23,750.20.
Sensex was trading at 79,522.39 after slipping 19.40 points or 0.02 per cent. At the same time, Nifty was trading at 24,179.85 after slipping 19.50 points or 0.08 per cent.
On BSE, Zomato, Apollo Hospitals, Bajaj Auto, Hero MotoCorp, DMart, Hindalco, Indian Hotels Company, Max Healthcare Institute, Tata Power Company, Trent, TVS Motor Company and United Spirits rose to their new one-year highs during the session.
