The Union minister was interacting with the voters, mostly Class 12 and 1st year College students, in Udhampur during the "Nav Matdata Sammelan" organised to mark the National Voters’ Day.
According to the Election Commission of India’s most recent enrolment statistics, out of the total of 4.9 crore registered voters, approximately 2.35 crore are under the age of 40. As many as 11.74 lakh of them are first-time voters, which is 2.39 per cent down from 2.7 per cent in 2017 and as much as 3.5 per cent in 2012.
All the three main political parties in the Capital, through their interactions with public and social media campaigns, have been trying to woo young voters with promises.
