A major fire broke out in the Anarkali building in Delhi’s Jhandewalan area that extended to the adjacent DDA shopping complex, officials from the Delhi Fire Service (DFS) said on Tuesday.
A bushfire over 80 hectares in size burning on Sydney's northern beaches was downgraded from emergency to advice on Saturday by the Rural Fire Service (RFS) of the Australian state of New South Wales.
According to the Delhi Fire Services (DFS), the fire was reported at 1:36 pm in a four-story building located on Gurudwara Road near Karol Bagh. A total of eight fire tenders were dispatched to the scene of the incident as the fire was rapidly spreading through the building.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained and a probe will be conducted to find out the reason
A huge quantity of goods kept in the shop and godowns got burnt during the fire.
According to the Delhi Fire Service department, a total of 27 fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the blaze.
The fire was put out at around 2.30 a.m.
"We won't know for sure until an official announcement is made, but this year many forest fires have started at the same time in many different areas, which may be caused by arson," Aydin Tufekcioglu
Some 150 people trapped in two seaside areas in the city of Catania were evacuated late Friday by sea, where they were picked up by rubber dinghies and transferred to Coast Guard boats.
