The court issued a notice to CBI on the bureaucrats' bail plea and has posted the matter for hearing on December 17.
They demanded that there should be a reasonable period of time after which files should not be reopened.
Chidambaram is under probe by CBI and ED over alleged irregularities in the FIPB clearance granted to INX Media for receiving overseas funds of Rs 305 crore in 2007 during his tenure as Finance Minister.
The CBI is probing as to how Chidambaram, who was the finance minister in 2006, granted FIPB approval to a foreign firm when only the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) was empowered to do it.
His arrest came as officials of the CBI scaled the walls of his residence in Delhi, minutes after his press conference at the party headquarters where Chidambaram said he was 'not hiding from the law'.
