The government on Friday denied reports in a section of the media that a satellite-based tolling system will be launched from May 1 to replace the existing FASTag-based toll collection system.
New FASTag rules, imposing extra penalties on users with low balance, delayed payments or blacklisted tags, will come into force from Monday.
In addition, CCTV footage with Vehicle Registration Number (VRN) at the fee plaza shall be recorded for non-affixed FASTag cases.
Paytm had said that the customers can continue to use FASTag to pay at enabled toll and parking merchants up to the available balance in their wallet.
The allotment of parking sites would be for a period of three years which is further extendable for two years on mutual agreement, as per a communiqué issued by the civic body on Tuesday.
In contrast, ports cargo traffic, diesel consumption and rail freight displayed a decline in MoM terms in July 2021.
At present, all fee plazas on National Highways are fully equipped with FASTag system.
This comes when the country’ petrol and diesel consumption is expected to grow by 14% and 10% respectively in FY22, according to rating agency ICRA.
