Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said in the Vidhan Sabha on Tuesday that a compensation policy is already in place for high-tension power lines passing through farmers' fields.
He made these remarks when Australian High Commissioner Philip Green paid a courtesy call on him at Krishi Bhawan in New Delhi on Thursday.
Ahead of the Assembly polls in Maharashtra, Congress said on Wednesday that the soybean and cotton farmers have been left to fend for themselves under the Mahayuti government in the state.
"Foodgrain production witnessed a record increase due to good production of rice, jowar, and maize," an official statement said.
He said that the government has become "a U-turn expert".
If agriculture is identified as the main advantage of the country, other entities must rely on that advantage to develop.
Referring to the continued dependence on the revenue department by the farmers with regard to activities ranging from land records to flood and drought relief, he said the drone has emerged as an effective tool to tackle such issues. The PM also said that measures taken to help the agriculture sector have ensured that technology was no longer intimidating for the farmers.
In the district 45,672 potato farmers had bought crop insurance coverages for their potato cultivation.
This step would be instrumental in saving nearly about 15 to 20 per cent water as compared to the conventional puddling (kaddu) method during the life cycle of crops, an official spokesperson said.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday called upon the farmers to save the air, water and land of Punjab by getting rid of the traditional crop cycle and adopting alternative crops which take less time and water.
