Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said in the Vidhan Sabha on Tuesday that a compensation policy is already in place for high-tension power lines passing through farmers' fields.
He made these remarks when Australian High Commissioner Philip Green paid a courtesy call on him at Krishi Bhawan in New Delhi on Thursday.
Ahead of the Assembly polls in Maharashtra, Congress said on Wednesday that the soybean and cotton farmers have been left to fend for themselves under the Mahayuti government in the state.
"Foodgrain production witnessed a record increase due to good production of rice, jowar, and maize," an official statement said.
He said that the government has become "a U-turn expert".
The Federation of All India Farmer Associations (FAIFA), a non-profit organisation representing the cause of millions of farmers and farm workers involved in commercial crop cultivation in the country, appealed to the global farming community to come together to oppose the the World Health Organization's (WHO) agenda, 'Grow Food Not Tobacco', which advocates for the replacement of tobacco farming with alternative crops.
The New and Renewable Energy Sources Minister Aman Arora cautioned farmers against fake Facebook accounts and PM-KUSUM Portals created to dupe them.
The chief minister was speaking after inaugurating the massive saturation campaign for PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana.
The farmers are not ready to take any chances and are on a war footing harvesting the standing paddy crops.
"The protestors have reached the dharna site and the meeting is going on peacefully," DCP New Delhi said in another tweet.
