A1985-batch former Tamil Nadu cadre IAS officer, Jagmohan Singh Raju (59), joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Punjab before the February 2022 Assembly polls after 35 years of service.
"I have said this earlier also that farm laws were brought in for the benefit of farmers, but have now been withdrawn in the interest of the nation. I don't think this needs to be explained anymore. Future events will make it clear why these steps were necessary," said PM Modi. Prime Minister said he has always worked for the benefit of farmers and they always supported him.
Union Minister Narendra Tomar on Sunday clarified that the government has no proposal or plan to bring back farm reform laws.
Speaking to ANI, Bachchan said, "My point is that such an important bill was passed in Rajya Sabha without any discussions. I do not understand the way the proceedings are going on in the Parliament."

National Conference leader Omar Abdullah also grilled the Modi government by saying; “anyone who believes the government repealed the farm laws out of the goodness of its heart was completely mistaken. BJP government only responds to cold hard numbers”.
If the ruler of the day is prepared to accept there is divergence between his thoughts and the views of intended beneficiaries, and is prepared to step back, democracy, to that extent, must be said to work.
"However, everyone must remember that BJP has won many elections, by-polls after the farm laws were passed in the Parliament last year," a party source said.
The Opposition in the Rajya Sabha wanted the farm laws referred to a Select Committee. Its members from the Congress, Trinamul Congress and Left parties were keen to move amendments for that, but they were rejected on technical grounds.
