In a pivotal cabinet session chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the decision to enact this reservation policy took shape.
The DMK’s move was followed by an all-party meeting held by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on the issue.
DMK, in the petition, said the top court has committed an error apparent on the face of the record by holding that abolition of reservations.
“The present regime continues with its unabated violation depriving the prospective beneficiaries of benefits envisaged under the Act", said Harsh Dev Singh.
Three out of five judges, which heard the petitions challenging the EWS reservation, upheld the EWS quota.
OBC, MBC and EWS candidates will have to submit affidavits with regard to their castes.
If a person avails the benefit of 10 per cent reservation under EWS category for a job on the basis of wrong information or documents, his services will be terminated, the government has warned.
On Tuesday, Supreme Court said it would begin the arguments on September 13 in the matter relating to the Constitutional validity of reservations of the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) in higher education and issues of public employment on the basis of financial conditions.
The top court clarified that it would first examine the 10 per cent EWS reservation in admissions and jobs, and then consider appeals against the Andhra Pradesh High Court verdict which set aside a local law granting reservation to Muslims.
