The Election Commission (EC) on Tuesday said there was no discrepancy found between VVPAT slip count and EVM control unit count in the recently concluded Maharashtra Assembly polls.
Addressing the gathering at Samvidhan Rakshak Abhiyaan function , the Congress chief said, “We don’t want elections through EVMs. We want elections through ballot paper.”
Slamming the Congress for its allegation that electronic voting machines (EVMs) can be hacked, the Election Commission of India Tuesday stressed asserted that the EVMs were 100 per cent tamper-proof.
The EVM units include Ballot Unit (BU), Control Unit (CU) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT).
The poll panel said in its order it had issued a detailed administrative SOP for the application process, protocols for units to be checked, safeguards and controls for conduct of checking/verification process and required documentation.
Both the driver and the polling officer managed to evacuate the vehicle before the rushing waters engulfed it, officials told the local media.
In its reply to Ramesh’s letter, the poll panel categorically said it has no new assertions or reasonable and legitimate doubts which require further clarifications.
Pawar stated that the meeting has been called in the interest of free and fair elections and to listen to the views expressed by eminent IT professionals and cryptographers.
The Commission has invited all recognised eight national and 57 state political parties on 16 January to demonstrate the functioning of the multi-constituency prototype remote EVMs. Technical expert committee members will also be present.
The CEO, who is on a four-day visit to Sirmour, Solan and Bilaspur districts, inspected strong rooms and counting centers at Sarahan, (Pachhad AC) and Nahan (Nahan AC), late evening yesterday.
