January 2025 the warmest on record: Copernicus

January 2025 was the warmest on record globally, with the average surface temperature 0.79 degrees Celsius above the 1991-2000 January average, the EU-funded Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) reported on Thursday.

It is quite likely that when, probably towards the end of this month, the International Olympic Committee starts sending out formal invitations to countries around the world asking them to come to Paris next year, Russia and Belarus will not find themselves in the guest list.

Growing influence
