The 48-year-old is currently the chief coach of Western Australian as far as the Australian domestic circuit is concerned. She also has experience of coaching Perth Scorchers in the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL).
England won the first match by 41 runs.
Mithali also defended her decision to drop Ekta Bisht, the player of the match in the first ODI, for Rajeshwari Gayakwad.
The two teams will now head to Guwahati to play the three-match T20I series.
The hosts cannot afford to take England lightly, as the visiting team boasts of some big names in women’s cricket.
Apart from Mandhana, BPXI wicket-keeper R Kalpana is also in the ODI squad and she could also benefit from playing in the practice game.
The ODI series between India women and England starts on 22 February.
Both Taylor and Brunt are part of England's ODI series.
England will play a warm-up game against BP XI on February 18 at the Wankhede stadium.
