The 48-year-old is currently the chief coach of Western Australian as far as the Australian domestic circuit is concerned. She also has experience of coaching Perth Scorchers in the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL).
England won the first match by 41 runs.
Mithali also defended her decision to drop Ekta Bisht, the player of the match in the first ODI, for Rajeshwari Gayakwad.
The two teams will now head to Guwahati to play the three-match T20I series.

Bisht starred with the ball with figures of 4 for 25 as Indian spinners made England dance to their tunes.
Kaur has been ruled out of the ODI series against England due to an ankle injury.
