The residents of villages lying on the fringes of Odisha’s Debrigarh Wildlife Sanctuary, which is a home to protected wild animals like cheetal, sambar deer, wild boar, Gaur, bear, and leopard, among other animals, have joined hands with the forest department to save the wildlife from electrocution.
Two people including a two-year-old child died while one is in critical condition due to electrocution in three separate incidents in the national capital.
Chandan Hazra (35), a civic police volunteer, was electrocuted when he went for a search on the rooftop of a house in connection with a theft case in Balarampur, under Budbud police station, today.
"According to the media report, carried on September 26, the students came into contact with a live wire connected to a water pump inside the tank while cleaning it. They were spotted lying in the tank by the villagers, who reportedly informed the hostel authorities," the NHRC said in a statement on Monday.

In a tragic incident, a 40-year-old man lost his life due to electrocution in the Kirari area of Prem Nagar, said police on Friday. The deceased, identified as Lallan Mishra, was found unconscious at the scene when police arrived following a PCR call.
The incident took place on Saturday morning at around 7.39 am. The woman was electrocuted near Moral Hospital, Bhajanpura.
Most of the victims had to be rushed to the MBM Government Hospital of the city where the condition of a few children is said to be critical with serious burns they sustained in electrocution, a police headquarters report said here.
