Chandan Hazra (35), a civic police volunteer, was electrocuted when he went for a search on the rooftop of a house in connection with a theft case in Balarampur, under Budbud police station, today.
"According to the media report, carried on September 26, the students came into contact with a live wire connected to a water pump inside the tank while cleaning it. They were spotted lying in the tank by the villagers, who reportedly informed the hostel authorities," the NHRC said in a statement on Monday.

In a tragic incident, a 40-year-old man lost his life due to electrocution in the Kirari area of Prem Nagar, said police on Friday. The deceased, identified as Lallan Mishra, was found unconscious at the scene when police arrived following a PCR call.
