TMC plans to move EC over bogus voters’ list

The ruling Trinamul Congress is gearing up to move the Election Commission on alleged bogus voters. This, after chief minister Mamata Banerjee expressed apprehensions on Wednesday that bogus voters may vitiate the voters’ list ahead of 2026 Assembly polls.

EC denies Kejriwal’s claim on Form 17C, CEO Delhi office too responds

Delhi Chief Minister and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal leveled fresh allegations against the Election Commission (EC) on Friday, claiming that the poll panel has refused to upload Form 17C, which contains the number of votes polled per booth in each assembly constituency, despite multiple requests.

Kalyan smells foul play in sending forces

He added: “I am well versed with the democratic constitutional rights and limitations of the states, the central government and the Election Commission. As far as my knowledge goes central forces cannot be sent or deployed in a state until the Election Commission issues notification regarding election. Hence it is my personal question 'under whose directive the central forces have been sent to the state?' The Election Commission sending central force to the state without prior notification appears to me as an act of political vindictiveness.”

Beyond recognition

The constitutional crisis, that cannot but impinge on governance, has exacerbated this week with the country's Election Commission refusing to recognise either of the factions as “they had failed to adopt due procedures”.
