In an effort to implement the directives of the model code of conduct (MCC) for assembly election, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Wednesday stated that it has removed a total of 1.26 lakh posters, banners, hoardings, and small boards across its 12 zones.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor and former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, on Sunday, wrote to the District Election Commissioner complaining of an unusual spike in the addition and deletion of vote in the New Delhi constituency ahead of the assembly polls in the national capital.
Elections to 70 Assembly seats in Delhi are scheduled to be held early next year.
The records show that Lavasa was selected for potential surveillance weeks after he had dissented not once but in five different matters of alleged violations of the Model Code of Conduct by then BJP President Amit Shah and Prime Minister Modi.
“There is no need to check the EVMs and VVPATs in Murshidabad as elections were not held in the two seats of Jangipur and Samsherganj as a candidate in each of the seats passed away before elections were held,” a EC official said.
In a letter written to the district election officers (DEOs) of five districts, the chief electoral officer (CEO) of the state has asked them to arrange for first-hand testing for EVMs and VVPATs.
“It’s the BJP who are opposing the by-poll because they are afraid of losing.” She also said it’s the norm of EC to hold by-polls within six months and “we are not asking any favours from EC.”
EC has directed the state chief secretary to provide adequate security to the officer.
